Instructions for making hard copies of my thesis. If your printers are only capable of single-sided printing, print SingleSided.pdf to a black and white printer. Then print SingleSidedColor.pdf to a colour printer, and replace the black and white versions that printed in the original SingleSided.pdf. There are a total of 16 colour pages. Double-sided version: 1) Print DoubleSided.pdf. This file contains the entire thesis. If you don't mind colour figures in black and white, you can stop here. If you wish to print the colour pages to a different colour printer, continue reading. 2) If you have a colour printer capable of producing double-sided copies, print DoubleSidedColourDouble.pdf. Replace the 16 pages with colour from the printout of DoubleSided.pdf with these 16 pages. 3) If, as more likely, your colour printer is not capable of producing double-sided copies, do the following: a) Print DoubleSidedColorBW.pdf to your black and white printer, being sure to turn OFF your duplexer. b) Now take these 12 pages, insert them upside down into your colour printer, and print DoubleSidedColor.pdf. c) Finally, there are two instances where there are colour figures on both sides of one page. They are handled here. First print pages 1 and 2 of DoubleSidedColorConsec.pdf. Then insert these two pages back into the colour printer, upside down, and print pages 3 and 4 of this file. d) Now insert all these colour pages into their appropriate places in the whole thesis, removing the black and white versions that printed in Doublesided.pdf. There are a total of 16 colour pages. Andrew Manning 10 March 2001.
