I work as Senior Research Associate in the Geosciences Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography
where I primarly collaborate with Prof. Ralph Keeling .
I have been also previously research associate at the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
where I jointly worked with Dr. Mick Follows and Prof. John Marshall.
During my PhD I spent my time between the Max-Planck Insitute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, Germany and the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.
I was involved in the Dynamic Green Ocean Project. and I was also part of the Ocean Biogeochemistry Group at UEA.
I was supervised by Dr. Corinne Le Quéré and Prof. Andy Watson.
PAST PhD RESEARCH TOPIC:
My dissertation focused on the impact of phytoplankton biomass on the physical properties of
the global ocean via the absorption of solar radiation. I used a global ocean general circulation model (OPA-ORCA2.0),
coupled to a Dynamic Green Ocean Model (PlankTOM5)
to represent and quantify the potential feedbacks between ocean physics and biology.
ONGOING PROJECTS & COLLABORATIONS:
Modeling Circulation and Carbon Cycle of the Arctic Ocean
Role of the Southern Ocean in the Carbon Cycle
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Past and Present Global Carbon Cycle
Global Ocean Circulation and Nutrients Distribution
Feedbacks between Ocean Biogeochemistry and Climate
Past, present, and future role of Polar Oceans in the Earth System
Gaia Hypothesis & Earth System Analysis
